Permits & Regulation

The key to successfully handling the maze of permits and approvals required for a project is to recognize potential difficulties as soon as possible. This requires a thorough understanding of all aspects of the regulatory process. It is also important to have a working knowledge of the changing interpretations of the laws by the agencies as they are occurring.

WRA has extensive experience in all aspects of the regulatory process. The firm has solid, long-standing relationships with the regulatory agencies enabling the staff to be on the pulse of changes as they develop. When consulted in the early phases of project planning, WRA can identify potential problems and assist the client in avoiding or minimizing them. Once the project process has begun, WRA can reduce the costly delays by working with the agencies to resolve problems. The firm has also assisted clients that have faced enforcement actions from state and federal agencies and effectively presented solutions that have been mutually acceptable to all parties.

WRA has experience in a number of permitting areas, including Corps Section 404 permits, RWQCB Section 401 Certifications, USFWS FESA permits, CDFG 1602 Streambed and 2081 CESA permits, and Coastal Development Permits.
