Petaluma McNear Peninsula
Municipal Park Design and Wetland Mitigation
On behalf of the City of Petaluma, WRA prepared a biological assessment, jurisdictional wetlands delineation, and rare plant survey for a portion of the Petaluma waterfront known as the McNear Peninsula. Additionally, WRA prepared an Environmental Restoration and Management Plan (ERMP) for the project area. The ERMP contains a biological restoration plan, bank stabilization plan, exotic vegetation removal and control plan, landscape maintenance guidelines, and a five-year monitoring program.
WRA prepared the conceptual design and construction documents for a public park and marsh restoration. The design elements of the park include shoreline marsh restoration and expansion, bank stabilization, marsh overlook and design, site furnishing placement, interpretive display placement, entry feature design, trail design, and parking lot design. Site planning for a relocated historic building, an amphitheater, and public restrooms is also part of this project. The design will provide educational and recreational resources for the public, while protecting and enhancing the natural resources of the site.
