The Mission Creek Park project is part of the ongoing development of Mission Bay in San Francisco. Mission Creek is a navigable tidal channel that connects to San Francisco Bay in the vicinity of SBC Park. This project includes the creation of a city park, a public promenade and plaza, and the restoration of a salt marsh along the shoreline. WRA conducted the biological assessment and wetland delineation required by the permitting agencies. WRA prepared a Channel Enhancement Plan that examined the feasibility of stabilizing the channel banks and creating wetland habitat. In addition, WRA designed the wetland mitigation and revegetation plan for the project. WRA implemented a pilot planting program to investigate the feasibility of reestablishing tidal marsh habitat on this highly disturbed site, and the pilot program indicated that revegetation was feasible but would require extensive soil amendment. WRA prepared construction drawings and specifications for creating the mitigation wetland and restoring the tidal marsh including the formulation and placement of the wetland soil amendments. WRA is currently providing construction observation services for the project.
