Glenwood
Wetland and Riparian Mitigation and Preserve Management
WRA prepared Corps, RWQCB, and CDFG permits for the Glenwood housing development in Scotts Valley, Santa Cruz County. During project construction, WRA monitored erosion control measures, and compliance with the project EIR Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program. WRA worked with the USFWS and CDFG in developing a comprehensive management plan for the 160-acre Glenwood Preserve that was created as a condition of approval for the 49 single-family residences developed on the remainder of the property. The Preserve provides habitat for the federal endangered Ohlone tiger beetle and Scotts Valley spineflower and the federal species of concern Opler's longhorn moth. The plan presents numerous strategies for vegetation management and focuses on the use of horse grazing as a primary tool to maintain suitable habitat for the beetle and spineflower. The use of adaptive management is a key component of the plan.
