Mr. Yakich received an MS in Marine Biology from San Francisco State University and a BA in Biology from UC Santa Cruz. He has over nine years experience as a wildlife biologist with a particular focus in avian biology.
Mr. Yakich is responsible for conducting site assessments and surveys for a variety of special-status wildlife species. Additionally, he prepares biological assessments and monitoring reports, and assures permit compliance for a wide array of public and private projects. Mr. Yakich has worked on a variety of seabird-based ecological research projects in California, Alaska and Maine, including more than 175 cumulative days spent conducting ship-based bird and marine mammal surveys in offshore California waters. He has participated in fall banding and general habitat use studies for passerine birds in the Sacramento Valley. In addition, he has conducted surveys for raptors, Burrowing Owl, California Clapper Rail, California Black Rail, California Least Tern, California Red-legged Frog, Steelhead, Bay checkerspot butterfly and vernal pool crustaceans in northern California. He has conducted studies of the abundance and distribution of various San Francisco Bay Estuary fishes; participated in radio telemetry studies of Harbor Seal; and conducted biological monitoring for special-status species such as Salt-marsh Harvest Mouse, California Clapper Rail, California Red-legged Frog, San Francisco Garter Snake, and Steelhea..
