Matt Richmond,

Associate Biologist
Mr. Richmond received his B.S. degree in Biology (minor in Botany) from Humboldt State University. Mr. Richmond has extensive protocol-level rare plant survey experience in a variety of northern California habitats including North Coast coniferous forests, coast redwood forests, pygmy forest, closed-cone coniferous forest, coastal prairie, coastal scrub, serpentine grasslands, and oak woodland. He has conducted wetland delineations in forested riparian habitats, pygmy forest podzol depressions, coastal dunes, coastal prairie, and coastal bluffs. Additionally, Mr. Richmond has experience surveying Marbled Murrelet, Northern Spotted Owl, Point Arena Mountain Beaver, California Red-legged Frog, Red Tree Vole, and Berhen’s Silverspot Butterfly. He has prepared CEQA documents, Coastal Act Compliance reports, Corps wetland delineation reports, rare plant reports, and wildlife survey reports.
Mr. Richmond has worked for numerous private consulting companies and collaborated with state and federal public agencies. In 2003, Mr. Richmond founded Redwood Coast Associates (RCA), in Willits, Mendocino County. As principle biologist for RCA, Mr. Richmond coordinated and consulted with private, governmental, and non-profit organizations to manage a wide variety of projects including wetland delineations, rare plant surveys, and wildlife surveys. In 2009, Mr. Richmond merged RCA with WRA to become an associate biologist. With this move, he has brought a diverse client base and skill set focused on northern California botany and ecosystems.
