Gabriel Olson
Energy Permitting & Development Specialist

Mr. Olson received his Masters of Science in Sustainable Development and Environmental Policy and Management from the University of Utrecht, Netherlands, focused on Renewable Energy and International Development. His thesis examined factors of success in institutional capacity for renewable energy development in the Indian Himalayas. He received his Bachelors degree from University of California, Berkeley, in Anthropology and Geography. He has over 8 years of professional experience in the environmental consulting industry, with direct involvement in a wide variety of issues pertaining to energy policy, renewable energy development, CEQA and NEPA environmental documentation, regional planning, transportation and infrastructure projects, and California environmental law and policy issues.
Mr. Olson’s current focus is on environmental permitting, and project management for a variety of private developers and public agencies involved in renewable energy development projects in Los Angeles, Kern, Imperial, Tulare, Fresno, Sacramento, and Fresno and other counties across California, the Cities of Lancaster and Palmdale, and various locations in Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, and Colorado. Additionally, Mr. Olson has managed a number of complex and interdisciplinary energy efficiency and renewable energy planning policy and planning studies, including the Renewable Energy Policy, and Energy Conservation and Management Plan for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro). Mr. Olson also has extensive experience with GIS mapping and cartography including over 8 years of experience with mapping and spatial analysis for academic research, professional consulting, and web-based mapping interfaces.
Mr. Olson specializes in project and program management, strategic client solutions, research and planning for energy policy and technology, regulatory opportunities and barriers, and market dynamics. He has completed graduate-level research and coursework on institutional capacity, renewable energy network development, international development, interactive policy making, international environmental governance, environmental impact assessment, and research methodology.
