Ms. Langston earned a BS from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and completed her Masters Degree in Ecology and Systematic Biology at San Francisco State University. She has worked for the San Francisco Estuary Institute, San Francisco State University, and The National Park Service conducting vegetation monitoring and water quality sampling in tidal wetlands throughout the Bay Area. She has contributed to studies on the effects of land heterogeneity, salinity, and grazing on the plant composition and function of restored wetlands. Ms. Langston has also conducted accuracy assessments for a wetland satellite mapping system.
Ms. Langston conducts rare plant surveys, biological assessments, and participates in mapping efforts to describe plant communities and landscape features of lands in Northern California. She conducts vegetation and hydrological monitoring in created and restored plant communities, and, for the past three years, has collected data on the population dynamics of several special status plant species in Santa Clara County. Ms. Langston is experienced in preparing project reports, CEQA documents, and permit applications for local, state, and federal agencies. She has worked closely with project managers on permitting and restoration projects, has implemented seeding activities to improve and restore grassland and Bay checkerspot butterfly habitat, and has coordinated creek restoration activities. In addition, Ms. Langston has implemented monitoring methodology for accurately assessing the success of mitigated wetland communities.
