John Krapek, BA
Biologist

Mr. Krapek received BA degrees in Biological Aspects of Conservation and Political Science with a certificate in Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Within his biological aspects of conservation degree, he focused on plant biology and systematics, and performed independent research on plant ecology. Mr. Krapek has performed field work in a broad range of geographic areas beyond the Bay Area, including New England, upper portions of the Midwest, the Great Basin, and the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. His primary field experience includes plant community sampling, rare plant surveys and monitoring, invasive plant management, native plant community restoration, and a host of other botanically-related issues. He also has experience performing wildlife surveys and monitoring. Mr. Krapek has assisted in permit preparation for the US Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), the Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB), and the California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG).
Mr. Krapek has received formal training in vegetation mapping, reforestation techniques, invasive species management, and the NEPA process. He brings experience working with the federal government, a nonprofit conservation organization, and a university herbarium and arboretum to his position with WRA.
