Sundaran Gillespie,
BA
Senior GIS/CAD Technician

Mr. Gillespie received his BA in Geography from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His studies in Geography emphasized GIS and Remote Sensing. Mr. Gillespie has extensive experience in several geographic applications, including ENVI, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and ESRI GIS extensions such as Spatial Analyst and ArcGlobe. Mr. Gillespie has a strong background in biological mapping through the use of GIS and Remote Sensing. In his final project for UCSB, he completed a two-part Remote Sensing/GIS study examining the vegetation change on Santa Cruz Island over a twenty-year time span.
His role at WRA is to create high quality maps, calculations, and analysis integrating both GIS and CAD platforms. Mr. Gillespie has extensive GIS experience in projects dealing with wetland delineation and mitigation, watershed analysis, habitat conservation mapping, rare species impact analysis, biological resource mapping, wildlife corridor mapping, and coastal development impact analysis. He is skilled in overcoming problems associated with data conversion through multiple coordinate systems, both local and statewide. Mr. Gillespie has worked in conjunction with several engineering and architecture firms to address issues associated with data integration between multiple software platforms. He is also the coordinator of WRA's GPS department and manages GPS data collection and maintenance.
