Dan Chase, BS
Wildlife Biologist

Mr. Chase received his BS degree in Conservation and Resource Studies with an emphasis in marine ecology and environmental law from the University of California at Berkeley. His environmental consulting experience includes fish sampling via seine net, gill net, and gee traps; aquatic exotic removal and diet analysis in coastal estuaries; relocating federally listed aquatic species; anadromous fish passage assessments, eelgrass surveys, harvesting and fauna identification, and tropical reef fish behavioural studies utilizing SCUBA. He has also been trained in various geomorphic techniques including stream mapping, stream longitudinal and cross section profiles, v* sediment analysis, and spawning gravel assessment; water quality sampling and analysis; and offshore water, sediment and benthic sampling in response to a subsurface oil spill.
Mr. Chase's work with WRA includes surveys and habitat assessment for special status wildlife, eelgrass surveys, essential fish habitat assessment, and preparation of biological resource assessments and reports. Additionally, Mr. Chase has conducted special status species surveys for Western Burrowing Owl, California Red-legged Frog, California Tiger Salamander, Clapper Rail, Black Rail, Swainson’s Hawk, vernal pool fairy shrimp and tadpole shrimp, Tidewater Goby, Northern and Southern California Steelhead, Unarmored Threespine Stickleback, and nesting raptors. He is experienced in the preparation of biological resource assessments, Dredge Material Management Office permit applications, and various wildlife technical reports. He holds a California Scientific Collection Permit, has a current 40 hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification, and is a qualified light commercial SCUBA diver.
