Nate Bello, BS
Biologist

Mr. Bello earned a BS degree in biology with an emphasis in biodiversity, as well as minors in Natural Resources Planning and Geographic Information Systems from Humboldt State University. His course work included natural resource planning, environmental policy, ecology, animal behavior, plant taxonomy, mammalogy, and GIS. Mr. Bello’s field experience includes working with a variety of lizard species in support of research projects, surveying for salamanders in coastal forests and on vegetated sea stacks off the northern California coast, designing and conducting pollination studies of cobra lily (Darlingtonia californica), performing track-plate and remote camera surveys for carnivores throughout the Sierra Nevada, performing wetland delineations, mitigation monitoring, and site visits to identify potential impacts associated with proposed development projects.
Mr. Bello has experience conducting comprehensive environmental review for the preparation of Initial Studies and Environmental Impact Reports for a wide range of private and public projects pursuant to CEQA. He is experienced in analyzing a variety of impacts related to biological systems, land use conflicts, noise, air quality, and aesthetics. He has acted in a technical advisory capacity on CEQA issues at public hearings.
Additionally, Mr. Bello also prepares permit application materials for Streambed Alteration Agreements, Section 401 certification, Section 404 permits, and Joint Aquatic Resource Permits. He writes management plans, performs biological surveys and wetland delineations, monitors mitigation sites, and prepares documents for the establishment of mitigation and conservation banks.
