Biologist

Mr. Arthur received a BA degree in geography from the University of California, Berkeley and a MS degree in geography from Oregon State University. Mr. Arthur has a broad range of field experience in California, Oregon and Mexico. He has conducted field and laboratory analysis for paleoecological studies in the Bay Area, the Coast Ranges, the Sierra Nevada, and central Mexico. Mr. Arthur has also conducted surveys for forest mollusks and spotted owls for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), vegetation surveys and analysis for the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), and rare plant surveys for private industry. Much of Mr. Arthur's field work has culminated in management recommendations and reports.
At WRA, Mr. Arthur conducts protocol-level rare plant surveys, annual vegetation monitoring, biological assessments, vernal pool and grassland surveys, and wetland vegetation assessments. He has worked in a wide range of vegetation communities including serpentine grasslands, oak woodlands, coastal closed-cone pine forests, seasonal wetlands, vernal pools, tidal and freshwater marshes and riparian areas. Mr. Arthur prepares wetland delineations, annual habitat monitoring reports, mitigation plans for a variety of wetland systems, and permit applications for the Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) and California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG). Mr. Arthur also contributes to mitigation/conservation bank management plans.
